LOVE HOLDS IT TOGETHER

Love is the greatest of the Christian virtues; love found its supreme expression on Calvary when God’s Son gave Himself for all mankind. The Bible makes it very clear that God, by His very nature, is love (1 John 4:8). God not only loves, He is love. His own Son, Jesus Christ, is the essence of love which is found in its expression in His sacrifice at Calvary. What we have to understand is that all human love, whether God-ward or man-ward has its source in God. Love in its true reality, as seen in the believer is seen only by the light of Calvary. Love is created in the believer by the Holy Spirit prompting the believers to love both God and man.

Love finds its steadfastness and dedication towards its fellow man by service one to another; this is the chief test of Christian discipleship. Love is vitally related to faith, but a faith that does not manifest itself in love both towards God and man is dead.

Another characteristic that has to be mentioned to avoid hypocrisy is this: man must love God and his neighbor as himself and that same has to love his enemy as well as his brother (Matt. 5:43-38).

Love is that which holds everything together. The man that loves God loves his brother and sister as well.
