OUR MINISTRIES

 

Sunday School

Sunday School is held at 9 am every Sunday morning.  This is your opportunity to ask questions and gain understanding about the things and ways of God.  The Sunday School often sponsors a Church Picnic every September.  The superintendant of Sunday School is Mother Lessie Washington.

Choir

The Choir meets every Saturday at 12 Noon for practice and usually renders two selections on each Sunday. They raise money for the church in various ways throughout the year, but their big event is the Bake Auction which is held in October. St. Mark's Choir has performed at various churches and events in not only the Redding area but in the North State and Southern Oregon. The Chairperson of the Choir is Sister Margie Dortch.

 

Women's Missions Society

The Women's Mission meets every Tuesday at 4 p.m. except for June – August when it goes on hiatus for the summer. The ladies are active in prayfully supporting:   orphans and foster children programs with a special prayer vigil throughout the month of May; Christmas Shoeboxes for children in remote areas around the world in November; and individual outreaches to meet needs in our local communities.  Whenever there is a fifth Sunday (considered "Missions Sunday") in a month, the ladies share what they have been studying from the Word at the regular morning worship service with the congregation. The chairperson of the Ladies' Mission is Sister Linda Roberts.

Mother's Board

The Mothers' Board is active at St. Mark's. Their big fund-raiser for Pastor's and Wife's Anniversary is the Mother's Day Tea which is held the Saturday before Mother's Day in May. The chairperson of the Mothers' Board is Sister Juanita Robertson.

Usher Board

Our Usher Board sees to all the little things needed for the smooth operation of each church service, from greeting and seating everyone when they arrive to handing out water, tissues, etc. when needed.  The Usher Board Chairperson is Sister Margie Dortch.

Pastor's Aid

The Pastor's Aid Committee is active in raising funds for our Pastor. It holds various fundraisers throughout the year and has been able to outfit the Pastor with his robes, supply gas money for his visitation ministry, and other items he needs in his ministry. The chairperson of the Pastor's Aid Committee is Sister Yuvonne Flournoy.

First Family Committee

The First Family Committee is active in meeting the needs of our Pastor and his wife both for their ministery and wellness.  The chairperson of the Pastor's Aid Committee is Sister Margie Dortch.

Youth Department

Our young people fellowship under the direction of Sister Rickii Bennett during our main Worship Service as well as participate in some fun outings in the summer.  Sister Margie Dortch assists her in this ministry.
